The grey-headed flying fox is a large fruit bat native to eastern Australia. With a wingspan of up to 1 meter, it’s one of the largest bat species in the region. These nocturnal creatures feed primarily on nectar, fruits, and flowers, which is crucial in pollination. Grey-headed flying foxes are highly social, roosting in large colonies and contributing to the health of ecosystems by spreading seeds and pollen.

Fun Fact:

Grey-headed flying foxes have an impressive sense of smell and can detect fruit from kilometres away, guiding them to the best feeding spots during their nocturnal flights!
